The Mr. Baseball Foundation Will Raise Money for a New Monument at Oahu Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii

by Anonymous

Seattle, WA August 13, 2004 -- Alexander Joy Cartwright, IV, Founder of the Mr. Baseball Foundation and CEO of MR Baseball LLC will be asking the Hawaiian public for funds to raise a monument at the gravesite of his ancestor Alexander Joy Cartwright Jr. to acknowledge his Great, Great Grandfather’s contribution to baseball. Cartwright's gravesite at Oahu Cemetery is visited by hundreds of people each year, yet there has never been a formal marking that indicates his contributions to Hawaiian society and involvement with baseball's beginnings.

“This new monument will sit next to the existing headstone and will bare the words of Alick’s Hall of Fame Plaque in Cooperstown NY. Forever will the people of Hawaii and visitors know that Alick was both a great statesman of Hawaii and the “Father of Baseball”

The monument is scheduled for completion in 2006 with a ceremony scheduled around April 17th 2006, Alick’s Birthday.
