Live Baseball Trivia Championship Drives Traffic To Baseball Website

by Anonymous

Albany, NY, -- September 6, 2002 -- A season-long daily trivia contest held on the team's website culminated in a live Baseball Trivia Championship held by the Northern League's Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs, during the team's final 2002 home stand.

Finalists in the live Trivia Championship competed during inning breaks, with trophies, season tickets, and team merchandise awarded to the top finishers. Over 400 fans participated in the daily contests throughout the season.

Team officials believe the contests were a major reason for the success of the Dogs' newly-relaunched web site (http://www.diamonddogs.com), which saw traffic increase more than 700% over last season. Among other things, over 900 new fans signed up for the team's double opt-in email list, and online purchasing of game tickets proved to be very popular.
